Introduction of the Volvo 7900!

Over the last few months, a number of Polish-built Volvo 7900 hybrid single decker vehicles have entered service with Lothian Buses, First Essex and First Beeline respectively. This is in response to the vehicle being on show at the NEC Birmingham last year, and the Green Bus Fund from the government in order to encourage companies to purchase more efficient buses.

The 10 buses that have entered service with Lothian are:

Now, for the time being, we will concentrate on the models at First Berkshire for the 7series between Slough and Heathrow. The buses will be concentrated on routes 75 and 76, but will appear on other 7series routes, such as the 71, 77 and 78. See here for the 7series map.

Seen at Brooklands on Sunday 21st April, was VSH69924 which was allocated to route 462 for the day:








Then on Sunday 28th April, Au and I decided to go out on these 7900s. Unfortunately there was a destination fault on 69929, but the vehicles had an excellent ride.
